Derek was very proud and pleased to receive the Don McKinlay Painting Prize from The Manchester Academy of Fine Arts (MAFA), presented at the opening, in September, of the Artful Remembrance Exhibition at Stockport War Memorial Gallery.

Derek had two paintings in the exhibition, 'One Day Last Summer' and 'The Door into Summer'.

Derek commented that he was especially honoured to be awarded the prize associated with Don McKinlay, whose paintings and sculptures he had admired and respected for many years.

The show runs until 29 October 2026 at Stockport.
